2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS

By popular demand Chevrolet has listened to their customer one more time and brought out the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, not new you say? Well this is a four door Cobalt and it didn't come with a Supercharger, instead you get a very efficient 2.4-liter Ecotec four cylinder front wheel drive engine that produces 171-horsepower and 163 pounds foot of torques at 5000 rpm. This is an improvement over the stock 2006 Cobalt which will get you 2.2 145 horsepowered Ecotec four cylinder and yes you can still get this engine package if so desired. But with the SS you get a little more ump without hurting your fuel mileage especially if you're a commuter and with the SS you get a little pizzazz with your Cobalt. Fuel mileage is estimated at 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the freeway on either engine but of course your right foot has a lot to do with the fuel mileage you record yourself.
Other features new for 06 are 17 inch custom alloy wheels mounted on P205/50R17 Performance tires, FF3 performance suspension which makes for a great combination and I'm here to tell you it handled the Alpine hills perfectly. You also get s stylish front and rear body kit similar to the supercharged Cobalt SS, power color keyed outside mirrors, rear spoiler, fog lights, rocker moldings, SS badging on the trunk lid, driver and passenger doors and SS interior trim treatment. Chevy came out with a couple of new colors as well Majestic Amethyst and Laser Blue. My tester came painted in Victory Red and gray interior very nice combination. The interior had a sporty dash layout with a large tachometer and speedometer with the information center tucked in between which will give you all the information concerning your Cobalt at the touch of a button located to the right of the leather wrapped tilt-steering wheel. Bucket sport reclining seats up front and a roomy back seat that splits 60/40 for added storage space coming from the roomy trunk. Up front all seat adjustment controls are manual but you do get a lumbar adjustment if so desired. This car came with a 4-speed automatic transmission located on the floor in a center console and you get a comfortable armrest that can store items and flip up out of the way if needed. You also get your normal two up front cup holders. The center dash is very well laid out, nothing fancy just a simple climate control system with an air filtration filter with large knobs for easy adjustments and a manual fan control. Above that system is your audio center which has been upgraded thanks to Paradise Chevrolet's love of upgrades. This Cobalt was upgraded to a very nice Pioneer 7-speaker sound system with in dash CD player that fit this car perfectly, not to much just right and of course you get XM Radio.
Paradise also ordered this Cobalt with a power sunroof with a well needed shade and with the sunroof came inside rear view mirror mounted map lights.
Stopping is very important and the 06 Cobalt SS did that very well thanks to four wheel disc brakes and for a few other important safety items Paradise also ordered this Cobalt with the optional side head curtain airbags that supported the standard front air bags. Other safety features that point to the kids in the back seat you get child locks in the rear doors, latch system for kid's child seats in the rear seating, then you get the PassKey III theft deterrent system, battery rundown protection which I feel all cars should have along with the daytime running lights. You also get an inside trunk release in the event you get yourself locked in the trunk!
Cobalt is a good car to look at if you're going to have to do a lot of commuting or maybe you're off to College this would be a fun car to own. On the open road it was smooth and precise plenty of interior room and it looked pretty sporty but if you hit rough roads you will feel the road imperfections but that is to be expected in a car with sport tuned suspension, Oh and you can get the standard five speed if needed, my choice of course.
