2012 Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition

Chevrolet is celebration 100 years of building automobiles and trucks and the Camaro has hit the 45th anniversary this year.  Yes, Camaro did miss a few years and there were a couple of other years they would like to forget as well (Read Camaro, Five Generations of Performance by Darwin Holmstrom, photos by David Newhardt Motor Books Int.).
This Camaro is a blast to drive and it is really not anything other than a SS Camaro with badgeing like a Red/Charcoal stripe that graces the hood with the script 45, interior treatment with the 45th logo stitched into the leather seats headrests plus a 45th Anniversary alloy logo attached just above the glove box.
Nice treatment, subtle, but tells the story.  You also get HID headlights with LED Halo rings around the lights, makes it look bad to the bone at night!  You also get a set of 20-inch deep Silver painted aluminum wheels, oh and there is some stitching in the seats that makes this a 45th Anniversary Camaro.
The nice thing about this package is that what it is, a package, you can put this on any Camaro in the line up, V6, V8, stick shift transmission, and automatic. This is a perfect way to build your Camaro the way you want it, and even make it unusual if you are creative and have a good relationship with the dealer?
My tester was loaded, 6.2-liter V8, six speed manual transmission, but I was to expect 16 miles per gallon in the city and 24 mpg on the open road.  I got a combined fuel mileage of 23.5, not bad running up and down the mountain.
When you're behind the wheel everything is within eye view thanks to HUD, Heads Up Display.  This may take a little getting used to but once you get comfortable with it you will be lost without it.  You can even change the screen to give you a ton of information; you can raise and lower the screen, dim the light or just turn it off.  Every car and truck should have this technology keeping your eyes on the road is the key to safety!
My Camaro was painted Carbon Flash Metallic, wow is metallic coming back or what?  Check this jewel out in the sun.  Black interior and no sunroof, I loved it, ok a sunroof does work in this
car I am just a fan of not having one.
The sound system was fabulous and had XM/Sirius radio, AM/FM/CD.  There was plenty of storage for the river and passenger and the seats fit like gloves with enough adjustments for me.
Will this car become a classic?  Depends on how many are sold, but if I was into collecting for my kids future this would not be a bad way to go.
I asked a couple of KUSI employees on what they thought this car cost?  I got numbers of 40, 50 even $60,000 dollars!  Base price on this 6.2-liter V8 is $35,450 and the 45th Anniversary Package will add $1,375 throw in $900 for destination and you're looking at a pre-tax total of $37,725, not bad!  They are hitting the dealers as I write, go down and check one out!  Tell them Dave sent you!
