2012 KIA Optima EX

This is a great story on how you can beat the fuel mileage war out there on the freeway of life.  I needed to drive to Sacramento for business and I needed a fuel efficient car, and one that is comfortable too for the long haul up I-5.  Decisions, decisions, I decided on the KIA Optima EX automatic with A/C (Over 100 degrees temps on the road).

The KIA Optima EX comes very well equipped, first off the engine, 2.4-liter four cylinder fuel injected engine backed by a 6-speed Sportmatic transmission, electric power steering.

I did ask for the EX Technology Package that included, Navigation System with Sirius Radio, Bluetooth connectivity then I asked for the EX Premium Package which included panoramic sunroofs, power folding outside mirrors, Infinity audio system with 8 speakers, UVO-in-vehicle infotainment system, HD radio, rear camera display, power front passenger seat and memory for the drivers seat, heated and cooled front seats, heated outboard rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The KIA was painted a beautiful Spicy Red with sand and black interior.  Not only did the KIA drive well when I stopped for gas when getting out there were no aches and pains, I felt great!

This road test really sold me on this KIA, not only was it comfortable, the navigation got me where I needed to go effortlessly.  Fuel mileage, you won't belive it, I should have taken a picture of my findings, are you ready?  Before I tell you let me give you the EPA readings, 24-city, 35-freeway, and did I mention this car carries a 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and a 10 year 100, 000 mile warranty?  Add the Hyundai Extended Service contract and your car is warranted for 10 years 100,000 miles.

Oh yea, fuel mileage, are you sitting down?  Can you believe 47 miles per gallon running on Regular fuel?  In my mind I was blown away, OK yes I used cruise control and set the system at 68 miles per hour, al the way up and all the way back, sure I could have driven 70 or 80 miles per hour, maybe got there ½ earlier?  But the money I saved in fuel mileage is a major bonus, plus I look real good in this car!

Price, I almost forgot, based out at $23,200, as tested, minus tax and license, $28,300 including $750 freight charges.  Go drive one!
